Google authorship

SEO Myth – Google Authorship increases Google ranking position

In June of 2014, Google removed Google Authorship photos from search engine results pages. While people’s name and byline would still appear amongst Google search results, those eye-catching ‘headshots’ would not.

Even more drastically, in August of the same year, Google announced that they were completely dis-mantling the whole concept of Google Authorship and ALL authorship information disappeared from the search results.

So, for those of you who have spent years’ building up your credibility as an author who regularly posts unique and quality information online, forget about it! It is no longer considered a viable SEO ranking factor.

For those of you who have never heard of Google Authorship before, then be grateful that you never had to suffer the pain of actually getting to the point when Google recognised a blog post as actually having authorship assigned to it!
